While there are no immediate plans to use a course management system (CMS) other than Blackboard for TeleCampus courses, it's always a good idea to keep up-to-date on the options that are out there. Moodle is a free, open source software package designed to help educators create effective online learning communities.

Moodle is a great tool that I have found to be a very powerful, stable, and customizable tool. As I work with instructors here at UTA, I constantly hear them wishing that they could do this or that with WebCT. I agree with them, but think in the back of my mind “we could do that if we used Moodle!” I’ve been working with creating some customizations with Moodle, and have found it to be pretty easy. Well, easy in a tech geek kind of way
Anyway, I have a Moodle site going here:

The design is one that I custom designed, so even that can be changed. Also, there will be a presentation at IOL on open-source programs, with Moodle being the centerpiece.
